The Longwood’s Garden in Pennsylvania is famous for its beautiful glasshouse and lily pond. The different shapes and hues of the glasshouse with the light reflecting through the glass onto the pond highlights the wonderful variety of plants that are found here. The reflection of the glasshouse within the pond also adds to this serene setting. I have used different hues of blue and green and contrasting shapes to capture the audience’s attention on all that is going on within this tranquil setting. This includes fish under the lily pads and a dragon fly in the foreground. I loved painting this and added my own artistic touches with the contrasting colours of the red and white lilies. This painting seeks to create a peaceful setting but it also demands you pause and take in all the beauty nature has to offer in this moment.
